PHILOSOPHY & APPROACH
Emily’s approach is collaborative, relational, trauma-informed, and human. She draws from somatic, IFS, mindfulness, gestalt and psychodynamic interventions, while having an overall anti-diet framework informed by the Health At Every Size® principles. She strives to promote an atmosphere of respect, curiosity and humility; to offer a space that is anti-oppressive and attuned to political, economic, and socio-cultural inequalities and violence inherent in the systems we operate. She works with folks who feel like a stranger within their body, mind, and spirit, and offers a space for people to experience their bodies, emotions, values, and sense of worthiness with the intent to grow inner-tenderness and self-compassion, sometimes for the first time.
PRAGMATICS AND LOGISTICS
As with clients, all information discussed in supervision sessions is generally kept highly confidential, although there are a few exceptions: • Imminent threat of harm to self, • Imminent and identifiable threat to others, and • Reported abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult. Should these issues become relevant, it may be necessary to break confidentiality to report these issues to the supervisor at your place of employment/internship site.
